Bangkok, the most exciting of all Asian capitals – Beside the historical highlights there is time to visit the less known places, where the Bangkok of olden days is still alive. Visit exotic markets, indulge in the secrets of the world famous Thai cuisine, go for long hikes into the age-old forests of Khao Yai and visit the picturesque province of Uthai Thani. Another Insider tip is the hike along the old bedding of the Thailand-Burma railway into the jungles of the Kwai valley, before we hit the beach in Koh Pha-nga perfectly located to explore the islands of the Ang Thong Marine National Park.

Arrival in Bangkok. Transfer to the Navalai River Resort, a comfortable Boutique Resort right at the Chao Praya. First walk to explore the surrounding quarters of Banglampoo at Rattanakosin island in the heart of the old city.
Explore the city. It is only a short walk to all the main historical monuments like the Wat Phra Keow, temple of the emerald Buddha the Royal Palace and the City pillar Lak Muang. With a traditional longtail boat to the narrow canals of Thonburi just on the other side of the river and visit the Wat Arun and the reclining Buddha of Wat Po.
Transfer to Kanchanaburi, stop en route the huge Nakhon Pathom Chedi and visit the famous bride over the river Kwai. The local train still uses the historic tracks and brings us up the breathtakingly beautiful Kwai valley to Sai Yok station. From here we take a longtail boat to the Resort River Kwai Jungle Rafts, a floating Resort on the river. Here one finds the timeless atmosphere of being away from it all surrounded by jungle.
A stalagtite cave and Mon culture
Take mountain bikes to reach the stunning Lava cave. Afternoon visit to a nearby Mon village originally from Burma. The village has a beautiful Cliff temple.
Hellfire Pass hike
Transfer to the infamous Hellfire pass high over the valley. Visit the museum and hike on a reconstructed part of the old railway track bed and later on a narrow road to the small village of Hin Tok (walk est. 2,5 hrs.) home to the comfortable Hin Tok River Camp beautifully located high on a cliff over the river. Luxurious Safari-ambience and a beautiful semi-natural pool guarantee pleasant stay.

Transfer with A/C Van to Uthai Thani laid back capital of Uthai Thani province (est. 280 Km, 5 hrs. 40 min.). Check in at Uthai River Lake Resort, located on Tepo island, surrounded by a maze of rivers and canals. The only neighbors are the river, an old temple and the wide open countryside.
Visit the spectacular Crystal hall of Wat Tha Sung and enjoy a lunch- buffet cruise on an old, comfortably re-fitted rice barge on Sakraekrang river. Explore the exotic market of Uthai Thani and one of King Chulalongkorns’sfavorite temples nearby.
Day 9 - 11
World Heritage Khao Yai National Park
Transfer with A/C vans to the Khao Yai Nationalpark (est. 310 Km, 5 hrs. 30 min.), the oldest National Park of Thailand. Home to a vast range of flora and fauna, it stretches over 2100 Km² in 4 provinces. Accommodation here is simple, close to the parks headquarters and visitor center, perfectly located for hiking into the jungle. Wildlife includes Elephants, Tiger, Gaur, Leopards, Bears and Hornbills, Civets, Deer and many more. Which route we will choose, depends on the weather, trail condition and latest wildlife sightings. Night safaris are possible as well as heading for one of the watchtowers early in the morning. All meals incl. lunch boxes will be ordered from the small restaurants at the visitor center. (Meals are not included here). A second Park Ranger will accompany us during the hikes.
Paradise island in the Gulf of Thailand
Transfer with A/C Van to Bangkok (ca. 150 Km, 2 hrs.)and domestic flight to Surat Thani. Transfer with A/C Van to Don Sak and ferry to the notorious paradise island of Koh Pha-ngan neighboring Koh Samui. The densely forested island with countless beautiful beaches managed to preserve its laid-back provincial charm despite its unsettling history of pirates, tin prospectors, Vietnam veterans more recently wild full moon parties.
The Ang Thong Marine National Park
Full day snorkel trip on board a comfortable dive boat to the Ang Thong Marine National Park. Explore the islands, beaches and the snorkel- and dive sites. Optional possibility to book a DSD (introductory dive) or to go scuba diving, if you’re a certified diver. All equipment, lunch buffet, fruits and drinks on board.
